Today, I watched a video about meat made in Factory, not farm.
In the video, a chicken nugget was made by a single cell, and the egg was made by Mung bean not using real egg.
"Eat Just" a company that makes eggs with the plant called Mung bean was founded by 500,000 dollar investment in 2018. Now, they sell their products in markets like Walmart and Alibaba. There are other companies like Beyond meat too.
Those artificial meats and protein not using real animals have a lot of profits.
First, it's quite ethical. Since the human population grows very rapidly and needs to consume many animals, the butchery of the meat industry increases fast too. Therefore, many animals need to have died. Lab foods can stop this.
The second reason is that the dairy and farming industry exerts a harmful effect on the environment heavily. About 10% to 13% of the greenhouse gas were made by livestock and causes climate problems.
Finally, this is my opinion, since the human population increase rapidly, we might need another technological evolution in the agriculture sector like nitrogenous manure invented by a chemist named Fritz Haber. It is estimated that the human population will soon reach 15 billion and we can't maintain our civilization with the traditional methods. Therefore, I strongly support the new method of making our necessary nutrients.
For those reasons, I believe that lab meats will be our next generation's nutrient supplier. But, I wondered that 'when' we can buy those foods in the public markets. So, I searched for some information about foods from "Eat Just". And I find the information that we can buy a bottle of the egg for about 3 dollars on Amazon.
Consequently, in my opinion, lab meats will soon be our daily foods.
