I personally like to read articles about how the world is going around. Therefore, I chose this article for this week's article for my essay.
This article deals with many big events around the world. I will briefly summarize this article with my opinion added to it.
The first event in the article was about Bitcoin. Bitcoin's price dropped heavily this week according to this article. Jane Yellen, treasury secretary of the U.S.A mentioned Bitcoin is not a good method for transaction conduction. I definitely agree with her opinion since Bitcoin's price change very fast. Therefore, it's not adequate for storing values.
The second event is about the oil price. The oil price had raised since the developed country's pandemic situation is becoming eased because of many reasons including the vaccines.
The third event is about Australia's new law that regulates social media to pay for the news on their platforms. Facebook blocked news on its platform for the complaint. Therefore, the government amended its bill.
Fourth, Britain's unemployment rates raised to 5.1%, the highest among five years. Also, it's expected to be higher.
Fifth, Boeing's airplane grounded again after its latest ground 20 months ago.
Sixth, Uber lost its law battle in Britain's Supreme court. As a consequence of this battle, Uber has to treat their workers as their employment, not third-party contractors. Furthermore, workers now entitled to approach Uber's benefits and protection.
About this, I agree with the result since Uber's policy seems like a normal taxi except for using an app. Because of it, I think Uber should pay their tax and treat their workers just like other taxi companies do.
Seventh, Mckinsey ousted Keven Sneader. I think this isn't important so I won't put any opinion.
Eighth, the hotel industry is losing its money and barred from earning money soon since Covid19 won't disappear in a near future.
While reading this whole article, I thought that society is changing very straight to the future we expected. Traditional industry is getting rusted and new industry using technology is prospering even though getting restricted while harmonizing with the society.
Thank you.
