These days, messenger apps are having power and a huge amount of economic pi by using the chat function of their applications.
After the Covid19 pandemic had started, people who use messenger applications rose up to 40%. Despite using traditional ways of communication like letters, emails, or phone calls, people are more likely to use chat applications.
About a billion people are using chat applications even though the statistic excluded Chinese. Furthermore, as another example, about 175 million people send messages by WhatsApp, a company based in the U.S.A.
And since those chat applications are huge, and have many data that can analyze people using them, they act as platforms using those members' and member's data.
C-commerce, once one of the E-commerce is replacing the status of E-commerce using its power and money. C-commerce is already very common in Asia and Latin America and started spreading to Europe and Northern America. I'm sure that in the recent future, most people will use C-commerce even though they're poor and not having a good smartphone to use chatting application since the cost of using those infra is keep getting low.
Now, the technology keeps on advance and becoming much more exquisite and elaborated. C-commerce uses people's data by their chatting record and offers options that matched people's will even people themselves don't know or recognize.
As the statement of the article mentioned, "get me a birthday toy for a five-year-old around science education for roughly $40", chat applications also can combine both people's desires and goods too, rather than not just grasp people's tendencies.
In my opinion, it seems pretty obvious that those technologies will make people's life much more advanced and delicate. Also, the convenience will increase rapidly.
But, I'm deeply worried about technology will invade people's privacy too much. And also, those technological advances let people use more money than before.
In South Korea, there is an application called Kakao talk. And there is a 'Kakao present' function in that application. That application function lets members of the messenger users know members' friends' birthdays. And lead members to give presents to them.
In conclusion, I hope the government and National Assembly make a guide to circumscribe the power and authority of big techs to use people's data on their own.
Since if not, the situation may cause monopoly and limit people's life to inconvenience and limitations.
Thanks.
