I argue that SNS conglomerates like Twitter and Meta should be managed more carefully consciously by legitimate institutions like Congress much more than now. In modern days, people rely highly on the SNS, and therefore the SNS might become the implement for instigation or become the source for fake news.
According to the article, the current algorithm used by Twitter seems quite unneutral. A prestigious article like the "Wall Street Journal" is undervalued and some news that is not much trustworthy than the "WSJ" gets more additional value when Twitter suggests the articles.
This phenomenon might become the trigger for the collapse of the democracy since people who are affected highly by fake news or incitations can vote on the fabricated bias.
Therefore, I think we should have some gentle management like holding the hearing by the Congress. The hearing conducted by Congress will offer our society two fine strengths.
First, Congress is one of the most neutralized institutions. Many people from different and various backgrounds are gathered in a chamber. Therefore, we can have diverse perspectives to verify and ask the conglomerates to obstruct the possibility of getting bad influence from them.
Second, Congress is the most trustworthy and transparent in most of the countries including the Republic of Korea and the U.S.A. Of course, the government agencies are having much trustworthy either but mostly Congress is considered best due to diversity and frequency of changing its members.
In conclusion, I assert that more supervision by Congress for the SNS conglomerates like Twitter is required to protect democracy from fake news and incitements.
